Parchtone Paper and Envelope Updates

Parchtone Paper and Envelopes are being re-organized on our floor. We are moving out all of the standard 65lb Cover and 60lb Text so we can concentrate on stocking our high quality weights. We will focus on 4 colors: Aged, Gunmetal, Natural and White with our weights of text paper being 80lb Text (120gsm) and our card stock paper stocked in 80lb Cover. Additionally, our envelope stock is transitioning to 80lb Text as to allow for a higher quality offering in these 4 parchment shades. We will keep #10, A1 & A6 as a 60lb envelope yet moving A2 & A7 to be 80lb Text, along with introducing A9 envelopes. We hope you enjoy these new offerings of weights which will provide a broader assortment of parchment papers on our site when mixing manufacturer options.

Our latest farewell is a sweet good bye to Serpentine, Malachite and the original shade of Lapis Lazuli.  Don’t be alarmed, Lapis Lazuli is still present, it just received a slight face lift and we are calling it the NEW Lapis Lazuli.  Also, we at paper-papers are saying good-bye to Emerald for a time.  We might be swayed to grab it back up if the demand is high, but as for now, we are letting Emerald rest in peace. (updated 8/2013 ==> Emerald has been revived and now active again – some other colors have be discontinued, View current post Cordenon makes new friends)

This beautiful italian line of metallic papers is laser friendly but does not play nice with inkjet printers.  Be sure to know your output  when planning a project and printing on Stardream, dry toner options work well along with other professional processes.  Wonderful 81 Text and 105 Cover make creative projects pop with quality and  brilliance.

Booklet and Catalog Envelopes

Booklet and Catalog Envelopes

Over the years one comes across a product that seems to have many identifiers and can cause much confusion when trying to buy or discuss a purchasing need. Catalog and Booklet envelopes seem to fall within this class of confusing terms. Open end, open side, catalog, booklet, large envelopes… these are a few of the terms thrown around when looking at this larger constructed envelope.  I suppose to cause even more confusion, technically these styles do not require ‘large’ construction, they can start at somewhat smaller dimensions.

Catalog envelopes start at sizes 6×9, although if you include the scarf or coin envelope, it can be quite small sizes available. Booklet envelopes can start at dimensions close to 4×6 with many custom envelopes being converted with booklet styles – the dimensions vary with many options to purchase or convert.

Before proceeding further, it is best to identify the most common factors that classify the term catalog or booklet envelopes.

Catalog envelopes

Catalog envelopes are open end, meaning shortest side has the flap, also center seam is the most common, yet catalogs are also converted with side seam construction. Either way, one seam instead of two.

Booklet envelopes are constructed with two side seams and open side, meaning longest side has the flap.

Both these products are found in varying colors, basis weights and gumming options. The most universal of both would be white wove and kraft with these being common amongst general mailings of catalogs, annual reports, journals and other popular inserts.

More explanation and sizes are explained within our individual listings or additional information pages on our site. Also stay current with other envelope sizes by viewing our envelope size chart or by shopping envelopes smaller to larger.
