Translucent Paper

Paper has many trends it will travel and one popular trend has been the colorful translucent paper. This unique paper is usually added to an existing project as an overlay or accent. Unfortunately this type of paper has shown a trend decline over the past years. As all can expect, the demand drives the market and since this demand as significantly reduce, so has the making of this paper. One line strongly affected by this industry change has been CT Translucent color choices. As we work on keeping demanding products on our floor for quick ship, this product’s “color selections” are being sold out with no replenish date for now.  Currently all colors are on sale and will remain on clearance until all stock has been depleted.

We will continue to stock and replenish most of the Clear / White Translucent paper including the VERY popular Inkjet Translucent.

Another trend we have noticed is Color Shimmer/Metallic Papers coupled with the white translucent papers. Presuming since the shimmer papers have expanded to lovely palette, most customers have decided to bring the color to their projects with heavy card stock and compliment with these neutral translucent papers.

However you best create, we wish you the most enjoyment and look forward to seeing your magnificent works of art!!

Parchtone Paper and Envelope Updates

Parchtone Paper and Envelopes are being re-organized on our floor. We are moving out all of the standard 65lb Cover and 60lb Text so we can concentrate on stocking our high quality weights. We will focus on 4 colors: Aged, Gunmetal, Natural and White with our weights of text paper being 80lb Text (120gsm) and our card stock paper stocked in 80lb Cover. Additionally, our envelope stock is transitioning to 80lb Text as to allow for a higher quality offering in these 4 parchment shades. We will keep #10, A1 & A6 as a 60lb envelope yet moving A2 & A7 to be 80lb Text, along with introducing A9 envelopes. We hope you enjoy these new offerings of weights which will provide a broader assortment of parchment papers on our site when mixing manufacturer options.

Fall Wreath Creation

Another amazing tutorial by Lia. She shows how to create a fall wreath and garland. We are always thrilled she was this creative and used our shimmery papers.

She used 5 popular Text Weight Metallic Papers:

Bronze Text, Copper Text, Ruby Text, Antique Gold Text & Gold Leaf Text

We love to share creative ideas! You’ll find this to be a high quality tutorial with beautiful photos, template downloads and much more. Check out Lia Griffith’s blog for more creative ideas and Happy Autumn!

(Just a reminder, Text Weight Paper feels much like the weight of letterhead paper, this is easily folded and workable for this project. Please do not confuse this with Cover Weight that feels much more like business card paper)

More than 30 beautiful metallic shades

Our latest farewell is a sweet good bye to Serpentine, Malachite and the original shade of Lapis Lazuli.  Don’t be alarmed, Lapis Lazuli is still present, it just received a slight face lift and we are calling it the NEW Lapis Lazuli.  Also, we at paper-papers are saying good-bye to Emerald for a time.  We might be swayed to grab it back up if the demand is high, but as for now, we are letting Emerald rest in peace. (updated 8/2013 ==> Emerald has been revived and now active again – some other colors have be discontinued, View current post Cordenon makes new friends)

This beautiful italian line of metallic papers is laser friendly but does not play nice with inkjet printers.  Be sure to know your output  when planning a project and printing on Stardream, dry toner options work well along with other professional processes.  Wonderful 81 Text and 105 Cover make creative projects pop with quality and  brilliance.

Can there be too much green?

Depending on the true intent of this question, your answer may vary. Green may refer to “eco-friendly”, but the context of this post is as simple as green can be, it’s all about the color green. This may be the perfect time of year to have too much of a good thing.
Green paper and envelopes

This is a popular time of year when many shoppers ask about getting green paper or envelopes. We have so many options, which can make this quest exciting or cumbersome, depending on your personality.

If you are thrilled to browse around, I’d direct you to our Shop by Color and simply say “hit Green“. Otherwise, you may be asking specific questions which would then prompt different thoughts. Here’s a few suggestions based on potential project needs.

Customer says: so little time and so much to do – doing mass mailer – need nice product at budgeted price.  —> I would suggest, Mohawk Britehue, color option Green.

Customer says: quality product, average price, but I cannot use metallic/shimmer envelopes, it must be envelopes made from “regular” paper. —> I would suggestBasis Green Envelopes, yet, if you are worried this green may be a bit too dark, then consider Pop-tones.

French Pop-tones offers 5 shades of green. (Spearmint, Limeade, Sour Apple, Gumdrop and Jellybean)

Customer says:  I want shimmer/metallic options —> I would suggestCurious Metallic Botanic has been a very popular choice and other thoughts would be Stardream Fairway, Shine Lime Satin, Shine Moss and Malmero Emeraude (non metallic). (All shimmer has limited envelope choices and we do not have envelope options for the last 2 suggestions)

Customer says:  I need to run these on my home printer.  —> I would suggest, be sure to consider printer obstacles…(example: confirm print will show on paper color, confirm envelope or paper size will work with my printer and paper or card stock is an acceptable weight for my printer) THEN, we can move to answer… All the above suggestions will work with Inkjet and Laser printers with one exception.. Stardream brand is only laser friendly, it does not work with inkjet (it will smear)

Customer says:  anything goes but I need to see the color  —> I would suggest, Consider purchasing a sampler pack we call Favorite Greens.  This will allow you to see and touch the quality of the paper.  Also, make note that envelopes are converted from the text weight version of the paper and it is also important to confirm with a customer service representative as to whether your preferred paper does in deed have envelopes converted in the size you may need. Additionally, if you need another sample, ask a rep to include it in your box so you are in a place to make the best choice.

Happy Green exploring!
