This holiday season, I filled our home with lots of color and joy. To make this lovely 12X12 Shadow Box I chose Cardstock FAV Shimmer: Orange Fusion, Garnet Plum, Hinted Gold, and Pure Gold and Shine: Champagne and Copper.
I also marbleized the Orange Fusion with Perfect Pearls. The flower curling took a bit, go gently. I found that if I rolled the flowers petals with a pin tool handle to loosen the fibers, they curled better. I also rolled them diagonally up the sides before curling them under.
I embossed the plain ones with Cuttlebug’s Sizzix Nordic Flowers., before cutting. I put them on wax paper to glue them, big at bottom, medium, then small. Move them around so they don’t stick. I added embellishments and stamens to the inside. I cut a circle to poke the stamens through and added another circle to the base.
The angel was mounted on Silhouette’s Adhesive before gilding, adding some pearls and crystals. Handcut around the angel. I mounted it using 1/2″ wide foam strips.
I spray adhered two packaging pieces together for backing for the 12″ X 12″ shadowbox. It needs to be 3/4″ deep, inside. The stripes are 1/4″ wide and braided at the bottom. I mounted the Orange Fusion to the cardboard backing using Scortape over the entire backing piece. I re-covering the areas along the Fusion with the saved backing, until I had the braiding done. The extra 1/2″ is mostly at the top and covered with gilding flakes and flowers. This project took a little time, but adds lots of joy to the holidays. Because, sometimes, too much of a good thing is still not enough,
I used Cuttlebug Cricut Cut and Emboss Dies: Flourish Emblem behind the gilded angel. I finished it of with Cheery Lynn’s Lace Corner Art Deco 1 little corner pieces. I trimmed two of them.
Quickutz did “Give Thanks” and Memory Box did The Resting Doves. Sue Wilson did the Angels and the Filigree Poinsettas, under The Festive Collection. Once the flowers went on and “Give Thanks” had some happy birds singing, the whole shadowbox came to life.

About the designer: My name is Susan from Arizona. I sew, do house repairs, drawing, colored pencil, taxes, accounting, and just started teaching the papercrafting classes at the local Michael’s Hobby Store. I use the Cheery Lynn and Memory and Cottage Cutz dies the most, the papers I have, that get used the most, are the shiny ones. Love, Love, Love the shimmer papers, and so do my students!

Am I missing the SVG pattern for the angel? I read through it twice.

It seems the artist used a hand cut die – Sue Wilson: Christmas Angel – hope this helps.
